Skyrim Patch 1.2

As I’m sure most of you are aware the open world epic, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has been released with its fair share of glitches that have been very publicly noted over the past few weeks. Bethesda have now confirmed that their update patch will be released this week and should rectify all the major issues players are experiencing.

The main feature of this patch will be to fix the game-breaking bug that has plagued many PS3 based games. The updates will also fix a number of other performance based issues including the Xbox 360 texture problems outlined in my previous post a few weeks ago.

The update is available for download on PlayStation 3 now, with a PC and Xbox 360 roll-out expected this week too… actually these may have been release today.

UPDATE 1.2 will fully include:

•Improved performance issues resulting from long term play (PS3)
•Fixed issue where textures would not properly upgrade when installed to drive (Xbox 360)
•Fixed crash on startup when audio is set to sample rate other than 44100Hz (PC)
•Fixed issue where projectiles did not properly fade away
•Fixed occasional issue where a guest would arrive to the player's wedding dead
•Dragon corpses now clean up properly
•Fixed rare issue where dragons would not attack
•Fixed rare NPC sleeping animation bug
•Fixed rare issue with dead corpses being cleared up prematurely
•Skeleton Key will now work properly if player has no lockpicks in their inventory
•Fixed rare issue with renaming enchanted weapons and armour
•Fixed rare issue with dragons not properly giving souls after death
•ESC button can now be used to exit menus (PC)
•Fixed occasional mouse sensitivity issues (PC)
•General functionality fixes related to remapping buttons and controls (PC)

Unfortunately those of you that saw my tweets yesterday will have heard that although this update rectifies most problems it has also imported a few of its own. The most notable of which are the fact that magic resistance, elemental resistance, and poison resistance simply don't work at all anymore and that Dragons can now fly backwards. For example your mage with 85% magic resist will no have 0% after the update is applied. The same goes for anyone playing as a Nord that is suppose to have 50% frost resist but now has 0%. Funnily your vampire that's supposed to be immune to poison can now also get poisoned. These are not game breaking in any way but have actually made me pass up the update myself as I’ve had no issues prior to this fix.

Apparently this issue also applied for NPC’s and creatures so you can now kill that Frost Atronach with Ice Spells.

The fact the Dragons Fly backwards makes me think of Deep Blue Sea and the ‘intelligent sharks’ that cause havoc for Samuel L Jackson and friends.

For those worriers, Bethesda is aware of the problem!
