Fable Anniversary and Possible MMO

Lionhead launched their new Fable Forum last week on their official site. According to the studio, the forums are “a place to hang out with like-minded Fable fans” where fans can “share your knowledge and passion for the series.” The forums are offering a medal to fans who sign up within the first two weeks (“that will distinguish you as a founding member of our forums”) and fans can sign up directly with their Xbox Live gamertag.

Obviously the timing of the launch itself has been notable with the yearly E3 conventions this week. For years now we’ve been seeing rumours of a Fable MMO, which has included various job listings for a similar project.

The Fable universe is so rich now, following four different games set within Albion, and with such a large fanbase that an MMO doesn’t seem out of the questions.

Speculation still stands even though Lionhead confirmed that they will be following the Halo routine and releasing a Fable Anniversary game. This will show off a re-mastered version of Fable: The Lost Chapters, which is confirmed as a title for the Xbox 360. Nothing has been said about this jumping to the next generation either and the studio seems keen to hit “the biggest community requests as we know how much the fans love the original game.”

Expect to hear more at the Microsoft press conference today.
