Finally another revolution in mobile technology was announced yesterday with the confirmation that Windows 8 will feature Xbox Live functionality when it launches next year. Microsoft themselves released the announcement so at least you know it’s true.
Major Nelson’s blog confirmed that it will be called ‘Xbox Live on Windows’ and will bring the console services onto all Windows 8 devices. This will range from gaming, music and video content to the applications.
More details on how it will work is expected at the BUILD conference later this week where Microsoft will be talking developers through the Windows 8 cycle.
This is a very interesting development and a sure fire way to integrate their services even further. Now I need to get a Windows 8 device on top of everything else I already wanted.
