At the closure of 2011 Raptr the gaming tracker website has revealed what its 10 million US members have spent their time playing throughout the year. Unsurprisingly for most the prize for ‘Most Played Game of 2011’ was Skyrim.
The statistics used for the assessment were broken down into different areas total play time, the average session length in the games first month of sale and the average play time per person on the opening week.
It’s no surprise that Modern Warfare 3 racked up more hours in total than Skyrim but it did falter in both the average session length and average playtime per person categories where Skyrim trumped MW3’s 2.92 hours with 23 hours of its own.
I suppose looking at those stats though it’s easy to see why MW3 is the Most Played Shooter of 2011; beating Gears of War 3 which landed in second place.
Skyrim also won Most Played RPG beating second placed Dragon Age 2 by an awful lot.
In the other areas FIFA 12 was Most Played Sports Game and L.A Noire was the Most Played New IP of 2011.
