IGN's Favourite Games

I usually find myself quite pleased with the IGN polls and was happy with the majority of their Top 100 Modern Games article last week. This is a comprehensive guide to the best modern games out there for every platform. There were some games that I completely agree with that should have probably come higher -  most notably Dragon Age: Origins that landed 89th spot - some however graded much higher then I would have personally liked - GTA IV got to 11th.

The top 20 contained Oblivion, Halo Reach and Half Life 2 which are all good additions to any one's collection. I'm going to run through the top 10 below and let you know what I do and don't agree with.

10. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - As IGN said 'The mother of all character cross-overs'. This is simply amazing multiplayer at it's finest.

9. Batman: Arkham Asylum - My favourite game of 2009 and the only game I ever completed 100%

8. Assassins Creed 2 - Another brilliant game but it would not have made my top 10. Certainly a great game that really expands upon the previous instalment though.

7. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - A great game for any PS3 fans with superb graphics, plenty of climbing, gunplay and a great musical score.

6. Fallout 3 - Absolutely rivetting. One of the best stories I've ever played with a rich world to explore. I love the subways of Washington DC and the dank, destroyed world.

5. Portal 2 - My flatmate recently brought this and swears by it as one of the greatest mind games of all time. The original was completely genious and this just expands even further on the ideas it created.

4. Super Mario Galaxy 2 - It's Mario, enough said....

3. Red Dead Redemption - Brilliant gunplay mechanics mixed with a vast diverse, immersive gameworld. Being made by Rockstar meant this was only ever going to succeed. I love this game so much and would recommend it to anyone.

2. Bioshock - Our introduction to Rapture was a deeply involving story. The combination of powers with traditional weapons made the gameplay experience unique and customizable to each individual, making it appear to a wide range of players.

1. Mass Effect 2 - Far more brilliant then the first and that might well have been in my top 10 too. If you haven't visited Omega yet go grab a copy.

What would be in your top 10? Do you agree with all their choices?
