Dragon Age 3

Bioware revealed a few snippets of information regarding the third game in the Dragon Age series. They explained to Eurogamer this week that the next Dragon Age game (presumably number three) will probably allow you to swap your follower characters' armour. This was a feature Dragon Age: Origins had available but Dragon Age 2 did not.

Bioware have not officially announced the project but series creative director Mike Laidlaw wrote on the Bioware Forums that the game will be a mix of both previous instalments.

Followers have standard armour sets that you cannot tinker with appearance wise. However, you will be able to equip them with separate pieces of armour that will affect their statistics but will not alter their appearance as Bioware believe a strong visual identity should be given to their characters.

Each follower will have multiple standard armour sets that can be unlocked through gameplay like doing personal quests, romances or through usual storyline progression. These will be swappable during gameplay.

Information was provided by Bioware at the Penny Arcade Expo this past weekend saying that the premise of the next Dragon Age game will be saving the world from itself amid a battle between the Mages and the Templars. In game locations like Tevinter and Orlais were name-dropped during the panel at PAX. Morrigan, a party member from Dragon Age: Origins, was also shown in concept art.

Whether you play as a set character like Hawke, from Dragon Age 2, or a created character like in Dragon Age: Origins will be based on fan feedback. Laidlaw has previously said he wants Dragon Age to be about a time and place, rather than a specific hero and has been quoted as saying it will likely be someone new and not Hawke or The Warden. However Hawke’s story will continue through DLC, which will also reveal the fate of his followers.

The graphics and art style of Dragon Age 2 are unlikely to drastically change and some other good news that although co-op isn't planned for the next Dragon Age game, but isn't ruled out either.

Combat looks likely to return to the more tactical side of the gameplay and be less about surviving waves of enemies.

Bioware has also expressed their desire to not reuse environments like in Dragon Age 2 and also put more emphasis on choice and consequence.

Sounds to me like Bioware have already been listening to fan feedback as the Dragon Age 2 release in February split the critics and was not as widely successful as Origins.
