Xbox Goes 3D

The next Xbox 360 update will become available through new releases and most likely by Xbox Live too in the next few days and brings the Xbox System in line with PS3 with a new 3D support.

This update will allow users to enable 3D use with 3D compatible TV sets. The text advert has advised ‘Enable 3D to use stereoscopic 3D in games and experiences that support it’. This option also has a setting which will detect the size of the TV for display purposes – you can also manually amend the output size.

The PlayStation 3 has had these sorts of options for quite some time but it is great news that Microsoft has finally recognised the 3D games market. This comes off the back of news that Arkham City, Gears of War 3 and Halo CE: Anniversary all support 3D. What is really interesting is the use of the word ‘experiences’ as this doesn’t necessarily relate to games and could mean the Xbox 360 will be getting 3D movies from one of their partner applications.
